Dr Martin Newman graduated from the University of Tasmania in 2004, having completed his Bachelor of Biomedical Science (1st class Hons) at Griffith University. He had the privilege to be supervised by Prof. Alan Mackay-Sim (Australian of the Year 2017).

After an Internship at the Royal Hobart Hospital, he completed his physician training in Queensland. Dr Newman completed advanced physician training at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, Princess Alexandra Hospital, Greenslopes Private Hospital and the Immunopathology Laboratory at Pathology Queensland. After obtaining his Fellowship in Clinical Immunology and Allergy, Dr Newman was appointed as a Visiting Medical Officer at the Princess Alexandra Hospital where he worked as a consultant from 2016 – 2023.

He has extensive experience in neuroimmunology, working closely with neurologists in a combined clinic at the Princess Alexandra Hospital. He has worked in private practice in Brisbane and Rockhampton, and as a Visiting Medical Officer at the Mater Private Hospital, South Brisbane. Dr Newman has opened a practice in Hobart where he now lives. He is happy to see children and adults. He treats allergy, autoimmune disorders and immunodeficiency.
