Privacy policy, patient information and feedback

Privacy Policy

We are committed to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of our patients’ personal and health information. This privacy policy outlines how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information.

Information collection

  • We collect personal and health information necessary for providing medical care, including your name, contact information, medical history, and insurance details.
  • Information is collected through patient registration forms, Telehealth platforms, and during consultations with our healthcare providers.

Use of information

  • Your information is used solely for providing medical care, managing your health, and communicating with you about your treatment.
  • We may use your information to coordinate care with other healthcare providers involved in your treatment.

Disclosure of information

  • We will not disclose your personal and health information to third parties without your consent, except as required by law or when necessary for providing medical care.
  • In the event of a referral to another healthcare provider, we will share relevant information with your consent.

Protection of information

  • We implement appropriate security measures to safeguard your personal and health information from unauthorised access, use, or disclosure.
  • Our staff is trained in maintaining the confidentiality of patient information and follows strict privacy protocols.

Telehealth services

  • We use secure, HIPAA-compliant platforms for providing telehealth services.
  • Telehealth consultations are conducted in a private setting, and the information shared during these sessions is treated with the same level of confidentiality as face-to-face consultations.

Patient rights

  1. You have the right to access, request corrections, and obtain copies of your personal and health information.
  2. If you have any concerns about the privacy of your information, please contact our practice administrator.

By engaging with Dr Martin Newman for medical care, you consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of your personal and health information as described in this privacy policy. We reserve the right to update this policy, and any changes will be communicated to our patients.

General information

The content of this site is authorised by Dr Martin Newman and is general information only. It is important to note that treatment options may vary for each individual, depending on factors such as other medical comorbidities and prior treatment responses. The information on this site represents some of the common conditions treated by immunologists and allergists, however this list is not exhaustive. If you are not sure whether your symptoms could have an immune or allergic basis, please contact us, and we can gather some more information that could help work this out.

Consultations

Dr Newman is a medical specialist working in private practice, seeing outpatients only as of the time of writing. He also consults review patients via Telehealth when this is appropriate. It is generally important to be seen face-to-face initially to be properly examined. Patients on desensitisation treatment require periodic review even when stable to determine the efficacy and safety of treatment. If we cannot contact you to arrange a review appointment, we may have to suspend ordering further immunotherapy.

Cancellation policy

We understand that emergencies and unforeseen situations occur, and at times, people will need to cancel their appointments. It would be appreciated if you could let us know as early as possible, so that we can offer an appointment to someone who is waiting to be seen. It can be difficult to fill appointments at short notice, and in some cases, a cancellation fee may apply if the cancellation is less than 24 hours before the appointment.

Feedback

Dr Newman and staff feel that feedback is important and are happy to discuss any issues that arise constructively. Our aim is that patients and families feel comfortable with investigations and management plans that have been discussed, and if, for whatever reason, this has not occurred, we would like to know how we can improve. We are happy to receive feedback via email at reception@immuneclinic.com.au or via post if you wish to remain anonymous.
